CHARLOTTE, N.C. – With the dangerous temperatures, The Salvation Army says donations are needed to help keep homeless women and children cool. The Salvation Army’s Center of Hope is activating its “extreme heat overflow” space, which provides daytime relief from the heat for those who need it.

Maj. Andrew Wylie says, “It’s just unbearable, as we all know, to be out in that heat. And so we want to create a space where people can come in, get a break from that, have something nice and cold to drink and just get a break from it. It’s just tough being out there. And we want to be a resource that helps people not have to endure that.”…
