The Mecklenburg County Detention Center in Charlotte will reduce air conditioning to about 45% in Tower One starting at 6:30 a.m. on July 28 due to scheduled maintenance. The system is expected to return to full capacity by the afternoon of July 28. This will occur during a period of very hot weather in the Carolinas. The sheriff’s office stated, “We realize this may cause discomfort and inconvenience, and we kindly ask for your patience and cooperation as we work to make these essential repairs,” according to WBTV.
