Teen injured in fatal I-40 car crash after Christ School prom sues school, driver

ASHEVILLE – A teen severely injured in a fatal car crash after a school dance in 2024 has filed a lawsuit against the school and the driver, accusing both of negligence in the high-speed accident that killed two passengers.

Isabella Tarantelli of Charlotte filed the suit July 23 in Mecklenburg County Superior Court against Christ School, an all-male boarding and day school in Arden, and the driver William Neumann, 19, of Augusta, Georgia. Tarantelli was a rear passenger in the car driven by Neumann following the Christ School prom in April 2024.

According to the suit, Neumann drove the car, a 2014 Volvo sport utility vehicle, at a speed of approximately 115 mph while using the camera on his cell phone to record the car’s speed on the speedometer.
