Video: NoDa bakery suffers $10,000 damage in break-in incident, suspect sought

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Surveillance cameras recorded a break-in at a North Davidson Street bakery, which left the owners with thousands of dollars in damages.

It happened over the weekend at Burney’s Sweets & More of Charlotte. The owners said a suspect used a piece of concrete to smash a glass door and break into the business Saturday night.

“It was very disheartening just to see that someone had broken into the store,” said Kimberly Johnson, co-owner.

The front door is boarded up, and the bakery cases are empty at the business. The NoDa franchise typically offers smoothies, coffee and other treats to customers. But it’s closed for the next few days, as co-owners Kimberly and Dwayne Johnson clean up after a break-in they watched unfold on their security cameras…
