Mecklenburg County warns of street vendors selling food without permit

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Mecklenburg County is warning about street vendors serving and selling food without a permit.

According to the county, 184 complaints have been made about vendors illegally selling food in Uptown and South End Charlotte between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. since July 2024.

“These vendors have not been inspected to ensure proper food handling and other important hygiene standards like proper hand washing, safe cooking, storage temperatures and sanitary equipment,” the county said in a statement…
