Charlotte man enters plea deal in fatal stabbing of 19-year-old woman

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte man has pleaded guilty in the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old young woman who was killed just days before Christmas in 2023.

Victor Arley Agudelo Monsalve, now 29, accepted a plea deal in Mecklenburg County court on Thursday, pleading guilty to second-degree murder. He was originally charged with first-degree murder in the death of Yamile Alejandra Giraldo Gomez, but agreed to the lesser charge.

According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, the deadly stabbing happened on December 23, 2023, at a home on Hermsley Road in the Steele Creek area. CMPD officers responded to a domestic violence call and found Gomez with severe stab wounds.
