Here’s what you need to know today.

The Big Story

The Boone Area Chamber of Commerce is raising $50,000 to cover child care workers’ child care for October. “Oftentimes these wages aren’t very high and the rates for a month of child care can be anywhere from $700 to $900, maybe even more,” said Ethan Dodson, the chamber’s director of development. “While child care workers might be taking care of a lot of kids, their own kid might be in a classroom next door being taken care of by someone else.”
