MeckEd, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting public education and student success in Mecklenburg County, will discontinue operations effective Aug. 31, the organization announced Tuesday.
In a press release announcing its closing, MeckEd officials did not state a reason. But earlier this year, the organization said it would lose $600,000 in federal funding, or 68% of its annual budget. MeckEd joined a growing list of local and national nonprofits that have seen federal funding cut under the Trump administration.
