Customers at uptown Charlotte bar tackled machete-wielding man, CMPD report says

A 39-year-old man accused of attacking a customer with a machete and brass knuckles at an uptown bar Saturday was quickly disarmed and tackled to the ground by other patrons, a police report said.

Matthew Terry King of Indian Trail faces charges of attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill, court records show.

King got into an argument with other patrons at a bar located at 300 South Brevard St. and was removed after it got physical. Witnesses said he returned later around 2 a.m. with an 18-inch machete and brass knuckles, appearing behind one of the patrons and saying “remember me,” according to a police report…
