A guide to this weekend’s Pride festival

Charlotte’s annual Pride parade returns to uptown this weekend, and organizers expect this year’s festivities to attract more people than the 240,000 who attended in 2024.

This year, the festival will be held at First Ward Park, a new location that coincides with the festival’s 25th anniversary.

Street closures and transportation

Friday, Aug. 15, 9:30 a.m. (Event Set-Up)

  • 8th St. will close at 9:30 a.m. to vehicular traffic between the light rail & N. Caldwell St.
  • N. Brevard St. between 6th and 9th Sts. will close at 9:30 a.m.

Saturday, Aug. 16, 5 a.m. — Sunday, Aug. 17, 11:59 p.m. (Event Dates)

  • N. Brevard and 8th Sts. will remain closed.
  • 7th Street between the light rail and N. Caldwell St. will be closed.

Sunday, Aug. 17 — 5 a.m. – 4 p.m.

  • N. Tryon between 12th and 4th Sts. will begin closing at 7 a.m.
  • East-west cross streets between 12th and 4th Sts. will begin closing at 7 a.m.
  • North-bound and south-bound vehicular traffic on Tryon Street will be rerouted to College St. (north-bound traffic) and Church St. (south-bound traffic)
  • Please consult the Charlotte Department of Transportation advisories for clarification and/or additional street closures related to other Uptown events

The Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) and Charlotte Pride are teaming up to offer a discounted pass for the 25th anniversary festival and parade.

Riders can purchase a two-day, all-access CATS pass app for $10. The pass includes unlimited rides on all services and is available for purchase on the CATS-Pass app through Aug. 15…
