Charlotte tenants face unsafe homes amid mold and ceiling collapses

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Residents of a Charlotte apartment complex say they are living with collapsed ceilings, mold-covered walls and other unsafe conditions, with some families forced to sleep in cars after being unable to secure repairs or alternative housing.

Multiple tenants at Little Rock Apartments reported ceiling collapses, with one mother saying debris fell on her daughter while she slept.

“This part was attached right here, and it fell on top of my daughter,” the mother, who requested anonymity, said. She said management told her there were no other housing options available and instructed her to continue living in the damaged unit…
