In a recent surge of arrests, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) has taken multiple juveniles into custody on charges of First Degree Murder and related crimes in the North Tryon Division. Last Thursday, a 16-year-old suspect was apprehended and charged with First Degree Murder and Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling, as reported by the CMPD’s official newsroom.
The following day, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) arrested a 15-year-old and a 14-year-old suspect, both charged with First Degree Murder; the 14-year-old’s arrest executed by the North Tryon Division officers, and the older juvenile, amid a cascade of related apprehensions, was taken in by Hickory Grove Division officers, each suspect is similarly facing First Degree Murder charges.
According to the CMPD, Secure Custody Orders have been granted for three of the involved juveniles, ensuring their detention as the legal process unfolds.
