Wrongful death lawsuit filed against city of Charlotte, security guard group after deadly Uptown shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The family of an innocent man caught in the crossfire earlier this year at the Charlotte Transportation Center in Uptown is suing the city of Charlotte and Professional Police Services.

Qualo Trevon Daniels, 31, was shot and killed on April 21 around 10:30 p.m. His family maintains he was an innocent bystander when he was killed and the city of Charlotte and Professional Police Services Inc. negligently, and even recklessly, failed to secure the Charlotte Transportation Center despite knowing it was plagued by violent crime, and that this failure directly caused Daniels wrongful death.

The lawsuit focuses on the city of Charlotte and accuses it of negligently hiring, training, and supervising both its employees and Professional Police Services, the contracted security provider it hired. The lawsuit also alleges Professional Police Services failed to hire, train, and supervise its own personnel adequately to manage safety at the Charlotte Transportation Center…
