CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A fundraising campaign has been launched to support a 64-year-old man who was left paralyzed after being attacked on a Charlotte Area Transit System bus in March 2024.
James M. Godfrey sustained a broken neck and a blood flow blockage to his brain, according to his sister Angelia Adams, who organized the GoFundMe. She also said he spent more than five months being hospitalized at Atrium Health Carolinas Medical Center.
The attack left him with spinal injuries to his C4 and C5 vertebrae, leaving him paralyzed from the neck down, according to Adams. Godfrey, who was homeless and living in a shelter at the time of the attack, was diagnosed as a quadriplegic and will require round-the-clock care for the rest of his life…
