CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A security guard is facing charges after allegedly shooting a man during an altercation outside a Charlotte 7-Eleven on Thursday night, and it turns out his license to carry a firearm had expired, according to Mecklenburg County court documents.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police were called to a gas station along University City Boulevard just before 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 18.
When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his left hand. The alleged shooter, Robert Santiago, was still on the scene, dressed in full security gear, they said.

According to court documents, the two men got into an argument in the parking lot. Santiago, who was contracted to provide security for the store, claims he asked the man to leave the property multiple times. He told CMPD that the man eventually “picked up a glass bottle and charged at him,” prompting Santiago to fire his weapon from about 20 feet away…
