Community raises over $10,000 to support family of 4-year-old Jayce Edwards after tragic shooting in Steele Creek

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — More than 200 people have raised over $10,000 for the family of Jayce Edwards, the 4-year-old boy who was tragically shot and killed while asleep in his home in a Steele Creek neighborhood last week.

The fundraiser, organized through GoFundMe, has surpassed its original goal of $7,000, with $10,500 raised so far, to help support Jayce’s grieving family. According to the fundraiser page, this is the only campaign approved by Jayce’s grandmother.

“Words cannot describe the love, light, and laughter Jayce Saint Bakari Edwards brought to our lives,” the family wrote. “His bright eyes, long lashes, and warm smile melted the hearts of everyone he met.”

Jayce was remembered as a joyful and loving child, his grandmother’s biggest helper, his baby brother’s protector, and the “official family comedian.”…
