No Injuries as Medic Ambulance Hit by Gunfire in Uptown Charlotte, Two Men Arrested on Multiple Charges

Earlier yesterday, residents of Uptown Charlotte witnessed a moment of unexpected violence when an ambulance was struck by gunfire. According to QC News, the shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. on the 400 block of East Trade Street, near the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department headquarters. The Medic ambulance, thankfully, had no injuries reported despite the attack.

Investigative efforts by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, aided by surveillance footage and accounts from off-duty officers at a local diner, enabled officers to quickly pull over and apprehend a vehicle matching the suspect description. Contrary to initial impressions, authorities believe the ambulance was not the intended target of the shooting, as reported by WBTV. The patient being transported at the time was safely taken to the hospital in a separate vehicle following the incident.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police shared details of the arrests made in connection with the shooting. Two men, 27-year-old Jaquarius Hykeem Mingo and 30-year-old Detevin Raheem Butts, face multiple serious charges including four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, felony conspiracy, and discharging a firearm into occupied property.
