RALEIGH — A special audit report released by the North Carolina Office of the State Auditor described a $305,000 settlement agreement made between the City of Charlotte and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Chief of Police Johnny Jennings.
The special audit report was conducted to “determine the circumstances and sources of funding for the initially undisclosed $305,000 payment,” according to the N.C. State Auditor’s Office (OSA).
“We launched this investigation because the people of Charlotte deserve to know how their money is being spent,” said State Auditor Dave Boliek in a press release. “This is the people’s money, and it shouldn’t be kept behind closed doors…
