City officials and business leaders in Charlotte said they are taking steps to combat crime in Uptown, a push they said will address real concerns and counter public perceptions that the central business district is no longer safe.
At a news conference on Wednesday, city officials, including Mayor Vi Lyles and City Manager Marcus Jones, joined Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officials and leaders from Charlotte Center City Partners to announce two crime-fighting initiatives.
