Charlotte demonstrators join 3,000 ‘No Kings’ marches across the U.S.

In the midst of thousands, 97-year-old Zita Hamer, who once gave scarves to soldiers in World War II, sought to make a difference as she joined the No Kings protest, determined to continue driving change.

On Oct. 18, those who gathered at First Ward Park were among yet another nationwide No Kings protest. With nearly 3,000 marches happening across the country Saturday morning, despite being states apart, every participant was advocating against the same thing: President Donald Trump and his administration.

The protest came during the 19th day of the federal government shutdown. The American Federation of Government Employees encouraged its 820,000 members to participate in the marches…
