On October 22, 2025, Dia’Mond Johnson, a 27-year-old non-faculty coach with Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, was arrested in South Carolina. The York County Sheriff’s Office and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department made the arrest. Johnson faces two counts of shooting into occupied property. The incident happened off school grounds and did not involve students, teachers, or school facilities.
Johnson is being held by the York County Sheriff’s Office and is waiting for extradition. The investigation is ongoing.
