New safety measures announced for Uptown Charlotte

In a bid to address safety concerns about Upown Charlotte, city and business leaders on Thursday unveiled a range of new initiatives, including new lighting, street cleanups and increased police presence.

“These projects aren’t just about bricks and bulbs and pavement; they’re about restoring confidence and pride in the heart of the Queen City,” Mayor Pro-Tem Dante Anderson, whose City Council district includes a portion of Uptown, said at a media briefing.
