CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — One horse was rescued after a trailer hauling multiple horses overturned in northwest Charlotte, officials say.
Around 8:38 p.m. on Friday, Charlotte Fire and Medic responded to reports of a crash involving a vehicle towing a horse trailer in the 4600 block of Brookshire Boulevard. The trailer overturned and fell approximately 25 feet down an embankment with three horses inside.
Three engine companies, one ladder company, a rescue company, and two Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) vehicles responded.

Firefighters worked through the night, using specialized tools, to cut parts of the trailer and extricate the animals inside. Three veterinarians, along with staff from Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control, were on scene to monitor the horses’ condition and provide immediate care.
Unfortunately, two horses did not survive the crash. A third horse was successfully rescued around 1:11 a.m. Video posted by the Charlotte Fire Department shows the horse walking up the embankment and being placed into another trailer for transport…
