CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Iryna Zarutska was stabbed three times the night of Aug. 22, but it was the blow the neck that proved fatal, her autopsy confirms.
The Mecklenburg County Medical Examiner’s Office released the findings Wednesday of the examination following the 23-year-old’s murder on the Blue Line train.
Zarutska had three stab wounds: one in the neck, the right breast and left knee. Forensic pathologist Thomas D. Owens determined that the weapon injured the right jugular vein and the left carotid artery, “resulting in significant hemorrhage.”
