Court hears evidence in second homicide linked to Brooks’ Sandwich House trial

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The trial for the 2019 killing of Scott Brooks continued Wednesday, but much of the focus shifted to a separate homicide that happened just weeks later.

On the second day of testimony, a Mecklenburg County judge ruled that evidence from the second case can be used in the Brooks trial. Jurors heard how defendants Steven Staples and Terry Connor Jr. are allegedly tied to both killings.

The second homicide occurred 32 days after Brooks was shot while opening Brooks’ Sandwich House in December 2019.
