Owner of shuttered Charlotte restaurants facing lawsuits, asked to repay roughly $960K

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The man who used to own two Charlotte restaurants is now facing lawsuits from two complainants who argue he hasn’t paid what he agreed to for rent and services provided. In total, he’s being asked to repay roughly $960,000 to both companies.

Steven Jensen, who used to own the Bar One Lounge in Uptown and the 800° Uptown pizzeria in the Alley at Latta Arcade, was served with the lawsuits in October and November of 2025. The November suit, filed by NP Uptown Charlotte LLC, focuses on the lease Jensen held for Bar One, while the October suit filed by Performance Food Group Inc. focuses on the pizzeria and the lounge. The suit by Performance Food Group also focuses on the 800° location in SouthPark, located on Phillips Place Court

NP Uptown’s suit claims Jensen entered into a lease at 222 South Church Street for Bar One in February 2024, but failed to pay rent as required under the lease. Default occurred after non-payment and failure to cure in June of 2025. While that property has since been re-leased, NP Uptown said it has seen substantial financial losses…
