CBP raids in Charlotte spur student fears and attendance shifts on campus

Concerns over Customs and Border Protection (CBP) activity, which led many Charlotte businesses to close this weekend, have reached UNC Charlotte as the first weekend of raids ends and the school week begins.

Before the week began, some professors adjusted their class attendance policies to be more lenient. Bibi Reisdorf, an associate professor in the Department of Communication Studies, announced to students via Canvas that all lectures and labs would be optional for the remainder of the semester. Reisdorf attributed “recent developments” as the reason for the change in her Sunday announcement.
