Indiana woman sentenced after embezzling nearly $1.2 million from Charlotte-based company

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An Indiana woman was sentenced in Charlotte Wednesday for embezzling nearly $1.2 million from her employer, Russ Ferguson, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of North Carolina announced.

According to court documents, between September 2013 to April 2023, Christina Robinson of Fort Wayne, Indiana, engaged in a scheme to defraud an unnamed Charlotte-based business by using her position as the company’s controller to embezzle funds.

Robinson accessed the company’s bank accounts and moved the funds into lesser-used accounts before making cash withdrawals. In order to conceal the theft, Robinson made false or misleading accounting entries in the company’s records…
