Former Panthers star sells south Charlotte mansion for whopping $9M

One of Charlotte’s most exclusive neighborhoods has a new record-setting home sale. The sale of Shaq Thompon’s home for $9 million is the highest priced sale ever for Carmel Park and it’s the third highest sale in Charlotte through MLS, according to Elise Ramer of Premier Sotheby’s International Realty, which listed the property.

The 11,000-square-foot home was built by Arcadia Builders and features a grand two-story great room, six bedrooms, two private offices, plus a state-of-the-art theater and lounge.

The showstopper may be the outdoor spaces, which were designed with resort-style living in mind. The pool and spa areas feature a covered cabana. The grilling patio has a fireplace, and there’s a private sports court. The new owner will discover there’s not a bad view on the manicured grounds, which span 1.6 acres.

For fitness year-round, there’s a detached wellness facility with a fully equipped gym, sauna and steam shower. A four-car garage completes the package.
