Men found guilty of killing North Carolina restaurant owner

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — It took the jury a little over three hours to reach verdicts for two men charged with killing a NoDa business owner back in 2019. Scott Brooks was robbed and killed as he opened Brooks’ Sandwich House, and now his brother says that during a week when we all give thanks, his family’s heart is full.

David Brooks, co-owner and Scott’s twin brother, says he’s grateful for how quickly the jury reached a decision. He knows it won’t bring his brother back, but he believes the guilty verdict sends an important message to the community.

“He was larger than life to me, added David Brooks, the owner of Brooks’ Sandwich House. “And larger than life to a lot of other people.”

Close to six years after losing the man he called his hero. David Brooks told the judge and jury inside a Mecklenburg County courtroom, “Thank you.”…
