NC pension fund up $14B, but retirees don’t see any extra money

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — North Carolina’s pension fund has grown $14 billion this year, but retirees say they aren’t seeing any more money in their monthly checks.

Jerry Pinkard thought his monthly pension payments would keep up with inflation after he retired as IT director for Mecklenburg County in 2010.

“But I was wrong,” Pinkard said. “I think we’ve had one bonus. That was maybe five or ten years ago.”…
