‘Kids might not have toys’: Christmas concert to help families affected by immigration crackdown

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Christmas concert in Uptown Charlotte is transforming into a community benefit effort, after a federal immigration operation known as “Charlotte’s Web” that launched across North Carolina.

Department of Homeland Security officials described the operation as targeting individuals with criminal backgrounds.

But a recent CBS report said less than one-third of immigrants arrested by Border Patrol agents in Charlotte were classified as criminals, information the news agency stated was described as “likely inaccurate” by a DHS spokesperson…
