Detectives from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are investigating a fatal accident in the South Division of Charlotte, North Carolina. The incident occurred on November 17, 2025, at about 2:41 p.m. in the 4200 block of Sharon View Road. Police say a Honda SUV driven by 85-year-old John Joseph McLaughlin left the road and struck a street sign and a tree. Emergency responders found McLaughlin alert and conscious at the scene. He was taken to the hospital with head injuries.
