CHARLOTTE (WJZY) — New information from the courtroom on Monday sheds more light on the man charged in a stabbing aboard the Charlotte light rail last week.
Oscar Solarzano, 33, is facing several charges, including attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon, breaking and entering a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon, and being intoxicated and disruptive in public.

During Monday’s hearing, prosecutors laid out what they say happened on Friday evening, December 5. According to the state, Solarzano boarded a light rail, got off at the Newbern station, and later boarded another train.
Prosecutors said he had drunk alcohol and was yelling at passengers, prompting the victim to tell him to stop and leave people alone. Prosecutors told the court the victim “repeatedly asked the defendant [to] leave him alone,” but Solarzano continued yelling and approached him.
