Charlotte and mountains

The Charlotte area will be clear overnight with almost seasonal low temperatures Thursday morning. No precipitation is forecast overnight or Thursday for the Piedmont. A series of quick moving clipper systems will bring precipitation to the mountains of western North Carolina. Snow is likely for most of the mountain counties overnight through late Thursday morning. The most favored locations (high elevations, Tennessee border areas, Smokies, High Country) will probably see several inches of snow. Boone can expect 1-3 inches of snow. By Thursday afternoon, all areas will see sunshine, have lighter winds and deal with the return of colder temperatures. Another system will swing by to our north Friday. While the core of that system will miss us, northern North Carolina could see a few snowflakes. This does not look like a big deal.
