Charlotte church nativity depicts ICE agents arresting Jesus, Holy Family

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Charlotte church made this year’s nativity scene based on national and local current events.

Missiongathering Church, on East 15th Street just north of uptown, added mannequins depicting Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents making arrests to its presentation of the birth of Jesus.

The twist comes after both ICE and US Customs and Border Patrol agents conducted operations in Charlotte amid a nationwide push to crack down on crime by undocumented immigrants. Federal agents reportedly arrested more than 425 people during Operation Charlotte’s Web in November.
