NC leaders seek solution for overcrowded youth jails

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — North Carolina jails are close to running out of space for juvenile offenders, according to the Public Safety Department’s latest update.

Officials are urging lawmakers to solidify a budget that invests in new facilities and staffing. But state leaders may look to Mecklenburg County to help solve the problem.
