Tragedy struck this past weekend in the South Division of Charlotte when a two-vehicle collision led to the deaths of two people and life-threatening injuries to a child. According to official reports released by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, the incident occurred on the 7000 block of Ardrey Kell Road Saturday evening.
The collision involved a 2011 Honda CR-V, which was discovered off the road with severe damage to its right side. Driver Ms. Lorin Elizabeth Manley and rear right passenger Ms. Gloria Jeane Manley were found unresponsive at the scene and were pronounced deceased by MEDIC. The other vehicle, a 2013 BMW 335i, had heavy front-end damage, and its driver, Mr. Jason Scott, sustained serious injuries.
Responding units from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department, Charlotte Fire Department, and Mecklenburg Emergency Medical Service Agency (MEDIC) found the juvenile passenger in the Honda CR-V unconscious and quickly transported them to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Speed is suspected as a contributing factor to the crash according to officials, while impairment has been ruled out for Mr. Scott and is not suspected for Ms. Manley, pending a toxicology report.
