CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A second suspect has been taken into custody after a man was found dead near an apartment complex in University City in late December, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.
CMPD responded to a 911 call to assist Medic at an apartment complex on Kirk Farm Lane, near the intersection of East W.T. Harris Boulevard and Old Concord Road, around 7:45 a.m. on Dec. 23. Investigators said a passerby found an unresponsive man near the parking lot of the complex and called for help. When first responders arrived, they found the victim, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
One suspect, Saul Lopez Perez, was arrested on Dec. 23 and charged with first degree murder and assault with a deadly weapon with an attempt to kill. He is accused of killing Marvin Alonzo and attempting to kill another man. He was denied bond in his first court appearance, and is expected to appear in court next on Jan. 16…
