Before I accepted my job with Southern Living and moved to Birmingham, I had been living in Charlotte, North Carolina for a couple of years. That move had also been for a job and only knew a few people when I landed there. So I began to explore my new town, make new friends, and forge my own little community in the Queen City.
One of the friends I collected was Bob Peters, who is unofficially the authority on mixology in Charlotte. Bob has earned many accolades for his work helping to shape the beverage programs for bars and restaurants across the country.
I first met Bob when he was teaching a monthly cocktail class at a local lunch spot and gourmet grocery that sadly no longer exists.
