CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — On Monday, Governor Josh Stein announced his support for a Charlotte pastor and community activist who will challenge Rep. Carla Cunningham in the March Democratic primary.
Rev. Dr. Rodney Sadler is challenging incumbent Rep. Carla Cunningham, who represents North Carolina’s 106th district (Mecklenburg County).
Cunningham has faced criticism lately from her party for siding with Republicans more frequently than other Democrats in the NC House. In July, she was the lone Democrat to join Republicans in overriding Gov. Josh Stein’s veto of HB 318, a bill that requires increased cooperation between local law enforcement and immigration agents.
