Judge keeps Mint Hill teen jailed in ISIS-related case, calls evidence “chilling”

MECKLENBURG COUNTY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A Mint Hill teenager accused of planning a violent attack in the name of ISIS is set to appear before a federal judge.

FBI officials said agents stopped an alleged plan to stab up to 21 people on New Year’s Eve. The suspect, 18-year-old Christian Sturdivant, is due in court on Wednesday.

Federal, state, and Mint Hill authorities accuse Sturdivant of planning to use knives and hammers to attack people inside a local grocery store and a fast-food restaurant.

Investigators said the case began on December 12, 2025, when Sturdivant contacted an undercover law enforcement officer he believed was a member of ISIS.
