HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) – Don’t panic. Nuclear siren testing is scheduled for some Charlotte-area stations this week.
Duke Energy will test outdoor warning sirens from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 7, around the Catawba and McGuire nuclear stations. More information on the locations of these stations can be found in the next section of this article.
Officials said the tests are designed to ensure the sirens are functioning properly, and residents in the area should expect to hear loud sounds lasting five to 30 seconds. Some sirens may be tested more than once…
