YORK, S.C. — An 18-year-old male has been detained and a 72-year-old man is hospitalized following a road rage incident that escalated into a shootout near York Comprehensive High School on Saturday morning.

The York Police Department reported that the confrontation occurred late Saturday morning on Alexander Love Highway. According to investigators, the dispute between the two drivers intensified until both individuals, who were armed with pistols, exchanged gunfire.

The 72-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the arm during the altercation. Officials stated that his injuries are non-life-threatening.
