The monks are currently in the Charlotte area as they continue the 120-day journey, which includes stops in communities along the route to rest and share messages of peace, loving-kindness and compassion. The walk began in Fort Worth, Texas, and will conclude in the nation’s capital.

According to the group’s official Facebook page, the monks have already traveled through Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia and South Carolina. The page, which has about 1.5 million followers, documents their daily progress and provides updates on locations and community visits. Accompanying the monks is a dog named Aloka, who has drawn attention online and recently recovered from leg surgery.

Community members may have opportunities to meet the monks in the evenings as they pass through towns along the route, including Thomasville. Organizers encourage the public to follow updates through the group’s official social media channels.

Supporters are asked to observe specific etiquette when encountering the monks. According to guidance shared by organizers, those wishing to walk alongside the group should do so behind the monks and avoid blocking their path.
