FBI’s Top 10 Most Wanted fugitive in 2016 Charlotte murder caught in Mexico after nearly 10 years

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — An FBI Ten Most Wanted fugitive accused of killing a Charlotte woman nearly a decade ago has been captured in Mexico, the Federal Bureau of Investigation announced Saturday.

Alejandro “Alex” Rosales Castillo, 27, was arrested Thursday in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, according to the FBI Charlotte and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department. The FBI’s Law Enforcement Attache Office in Mexico City coordinated with Mexican authorities, including Agencia de Investigación Criminal-INTERPOL and the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana, to locate and detain Castillo, according to the FBI.

Castillo is being charged with murdering 23-year-old Truc Quan “Sandy” Ly Le in August 2016. The victim’s body was found Aug. 17, 2016, in a wooded area in Cabarrus County with a gunshot wound to the head, the FBI said.
