The weeks-long investigation into the killing of David Damelle Alexander, who was 33 years old, has led to an arrest on the East Coast. Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department (CMPD) identified 30-year-old Diamonte Galloway as the prime suspect. Detectives acquired a warrant for his arrest after piecing together evidence from the scene and following up on leads.
On December 29, 2025, CMPD’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, in coordination with the Chesapeake Police Department, located Galloway at his Virginia residence and took him into custody without incident. He was extradited to North Carolina the following month and questioned at the Charlotte Law Enforcement Center (LEC) before being charged with murder. Law enforcement confirmed the victim’s family was notified of the arrest.
“The investigation into this case is active and ongoing. As additional information develops, it will be released by the CMPD’s Public Affairs Division,” the city of Charlotte said. Authorities urge anyone with relevant information to come forward and report anonymously through Crime Stoppers…
