CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — If you’ve been beating the crowds by getting to the NCDMV right at 7 a.m., that early start is about to disappear.
The NC Division of Motor Vehicles announced that it’s ending early-morning openings at 90 driver’s license offices across the state. The extra hour was funded by federal American Rescue Plan money, and now that funding is used up, officials said.
For the past several months, these offices opened at 7 a.m. instead of the usual 8 a.m. to help handle heavy demand for licenses and ID cards. But according to the NCDMV, the agency can’t keep the expanded hours without new funding…
