Wintry mix expected overnight in North Carolina, but most accumulations should stay under an inch

(PINPOINT WEATHER) — It was another cloudy, chilly day Wednesday, but with areas of rain and drizzle instead of snow. That is, until later when we start to see a changeover to a wintry mix and snow in the mountains.

Expect snow to break out in the Foothills, even around the Charlotte and Piedmont, overnight through early Thursday morning. So it’s possible you could see some flakes, but it won’t add up to much. Most accumulation stays under an inch. Totals in the mountains may end up higher, around the 1-2 inch range.

As temperatures drop to near or below freezing overnight, some slick spots are possible as you’re headed out in the morning. A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Stanly, Anson and Richmond counties. Be extra careful again!…
