Publix secures uptown Charlotte grocery store six years after leasing the site

Publix Super Markets has secured plans for its uptown Charlotte store with a $4.8 million property purchase six years after first detailing plans for a grocery store there.

The Lakeland, Florida grocery chain operating as Publix North Carolina purchased 601 N. Tryon St. from 10th and Tryon Partners of Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Jan. 29, according to Mecklenburg County property records filed Thursday .

Property records also show that Publix and 10th and Tryon Partners terminated the lease agreement that same day. Publix had leased the property since Dec. 12, 2019, the record shows…
